Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows much about tax credits, at the moment i claim child tax credits, i earn too much to get working tax credits, they also help with child care,
i called them a few months back to ask what happens when i go on maternity, im taking a year off, my daughter is due april which happens to be the end of the tax year lol
does anyone know - do they consider you still working if your on maternity, im sure the guy on the phone said nothing will change really, as they class you as working still as im going back after maternity,
also i was just reading about an extra payment for new borns untill they are 1 anyone know how much this is?
im just trying to work out my finances,
the guy on the phone wasnt 100% sure about the details?
anyone got any ideas?
plus i will earn under the tax credit limit of 13000 while im off on maternity, does that mean ill get working tax credits aswell?
sorry fior all the questions!

Hi onlyme. I claim CTC but don't really understand the system! Lots of people have told me that the best people to speak to about benefits are the Citizens Advive Bureau because they work to get you what you're entitled to, whereas the tax credit people think they're saving money by not telling you what you're entitled to. I haven't tried CAB myself but I hear they're good!
