Is anyone else an unpaid PA for their husband/ partner? I'm guessing this question is aimed more at us women rather than the men.

If there's any calls to be made to any companies, council, electric, gas etc It's me who has to do it. Quite why, ive no idea as more often than not he's hovering in the background going "tell em this...." and "make sure you get....".

Any of his family celebrations, I'm the one who get's the presents and cards for him to give to them. That's also bearing in mind that i'm the one who's remembered it in the first place, as he sure as hell doesn't.

Is it only me who has somehow been shoe-horned into the position of unpaid PA for their spouses?

This has all come about today Weeal as it is Mr Boo's dad's birthday today, and hubby has lost his phone number to ring him to say happy birthday and that we'll visit on Friday (with the present I havent bought yet....)

As his dad is in a residental home type place,a flat, he's asking me to phone the actual place (getting the number from 118 118 1st of course) and get a message passed on.

I honestly feel like screaming...""Why, what the F is wrong with your fingers and gob?"

MEN!!!! GRRRR!!!
I had to ring up dentist for him yesterday to move his appointment. Just had a txt after he'd left for work saying ring the dentist and move it. I also got his mothers day card and at xmas have to get his niece and nephews presents
Question Author
lol 4get, why do we allow ourselves to get into this position?
-- answer removed --
Because I know he wouldnt do it himself and That he is very busy so appointments I dont mind changing but I would feel bad if his nephew/niece didnt get any pressies from their uncle. I think Im gonna have to go and buy some eggs for them too this weekend. I do like to feel I am a big help to him too though and love looking after him as he looks after me :-)
Men very rarely remember numbers/dates/addresses etc but its mostly laziness if you ask me, like 'why have a dog and bark yourself' attitude lol
Sorry Boo, they're all the same. My husband has always expected me to write his letters for him, and the one time I told him to write it himself, he said, "OK, what will I say?"
Thats a point if you do tell them do do it themselves you are then bombarded with 100 questions that you might aswell do it yourself

yeah sadly filibuster, i have to agree with you. How does this come about?

One day wer're single strong minded women who'd tell folks to bu88er off if they asked all this from us, the next, we''ve somehow turned into a Stepford Wife....hmmmm
In the immortal words of Harry Enfield " women know your place! " I've got my running shoes on......
I'm guessing this question is aimed more at us women rather than the men

Guess again BOO the mrs put up for councilor at the last local election and got elected, I now have to talk to a stream of old ladies ringing my house to complain about this that and tuther. She was sh*ting herself in case i gave the old dears the AB treatment when they rang lol.
and if i have told Craft once i've told her a thousand times.

stop bloody ringing she is not in the mrs's ward!

oh and I also have to answer the phone too. I could be in the kitchen, and have to come into the livingroom (where he's sitting) to get it.

his response to my "could you not hear that then?" is usually...."well, it wont be for me will it?"....!
sorry i forgot

women GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Oh ok, I stand corrected then NoK- we also have a Stepford Husband amongst us.
really?

ah well maybe i will change my opinion on being single

then again

mmmmmmm
what annoys me is that they ask u to do all these things, typing, phone calls etc. but they never say thank you. they just take you for granted.

another thing I moan about is when I get in from work and no one ever asks me if I have had a bad or good day, yet I have to listen to all their woes......
i thnk i've got mug written acorss my forehead
