A prosecution witness has testified that she heard a scream. She wasn't sure of the date, and she didn't see, or hear, Amanda Knox.

The autopsy report read to the jury confirms that the knife in question belonged to Rafaelle Sollecito, some dodgy bloke whom Amanda had met 10 days earlier. It was not part of the cutlery from Amanda's flat.

But ... a local grocer, Marco Quintavalle, thinks (!) Amanda went to his shop on November 2nd to buy cleaning products.

So ...

Never mind witnesses to the crime ...

Never mind forensic evidence ...

Never mind DNA ...

If you buy bleach, you're a murderer.

I hope I haven't p*ssed you off JJ, I was merely being objective. I haven't followed the case like you, and as I said the other day, I don't have a gut feeling either way. I do, however, find her to be a very strange person. She was also seen (apparently) hours after the murder, buying lingerie with her boyfriend, and talking about a night of great sex. I wouldn't even be able to eat in the aftermath of such a brutal killing, let alone contemplate kinky sex.

The thing is, until there is any "evidence" of her guilt, she doesn't have to adduce any evidence (circumstantial or otherwise) of her innocence. If it's a total stalemate, with no proper evidence either way, then she is not guilty (even in Italy).

The Italian Police have backed themselves into a corner. They kept Amanda Knox in custody for so long that it was difficult for them to say "okay, okay, we've drawn a blank", and let her go. So ... they press on with a hair brained prosecution. If she is acquitted, the Police will blame the contrary jury for letting them down. If the jury are all insane and convict her, then the Police can say "we told you so".

There was something else, tho I can't quite remember what it was. Something about Knox writing a story years ago at college about a student being raped and murdered. Her story had astonishing parallels with the actual Meredity murder. She is obviously capable of 'thinking' along those lines.

When someone is murdered, the Police don't go and round up all the thriller writers, just because they are capable of thinking along those lines.

The Police have got a whole stack of arguments to suggest that Amanda Knox could have been involved ... but no evidence to show that she actually was involved.

Imagine if somebody was run over and killed in your road, and the Police arrested you, because you own a car, and you live in the same road, and you have speeding points on your licence, and you had cleaned your car on the day it happened ... You'd be miffed.

Seperately, these things seem circumstantial, but when you add them all up, they seem to cast doubt upon her innocence.

Buying cleaning fluid from supermarket but lying about it

Her strange behaviour in the wake of the murder

Plus

Writing a story about a similar murder

Plus

Sending a text message saying, "For me, Meredith dies tonight." to someone else's phone in the hours before the murder..............

It all seems a bit strange to me.

... but the system is that the prosecution have to PROVE that she committed the murder ... not just flag up a few ancillary facts that look a bit strange.

And don't forget ... the actual killer has already been convicted, and is serving a life sentence.
