Choice of accomodation for elderly
My friends elderly father was moved to a care home 2 years ago. Neither my friend or her father wanted this to happen, but social services interveened & he was put into an old peoples home.
He has gradually become settled & she visits him two or three times every day. Today, she was told that by the end of the week he will be moved to another care home- no consultation with my friend or her father. Can they really do this??!!
His care is paid from the old mans pension, so surely he should have the right to decide where he lives?
I have looked on the 'net and found some info on the National Assistance Act- but its all rather a lot of jargon.
I advised my friend go to The CAB or Age Concern, but she was so upset & down beat that she feels there is no way she can fight it. I want to help...
Anyone any ideas/suggestions please would be much appreciated. Thanks.

(ie nursing needs if he is in a residential home, or mental health needs)
Has something happened to propmt this happening (ie home closing down; father become violent)
She hasn't really provided you with enough info and her best bet is to talk to the home manager

Thanks for your answer bednobs.
Having spoken to my friend about it again today it would seem that she didnt really fill me in on the full story!
Her main gripe was at the way the social worker TOLD her that her Dad would be moved, rather than discussed it with her & I think her emotions led her down the wrong road.
It would seem that his needs have become greater than the current home can provide for - so he is being moved from a home classed as residential to one which provides more nursing care.
