Retailers and Identity Cards

If the BBC are to be believed, retailers are to be given the job of photographing and finger printing people applying for an identity card.

It would only take one dishonest retailer to assist in forging identity cards for the whole scheme to unravel (like a very fast unraveling thing).

But you can sleep safe, knowing that there are no dishonest retailers in the UK (then again, perhaps Jacqui Smith has not considered this).

The Home Secretary was on the lunchtime news and said that the ID cards were a good idea because it would save us having to carry other forms of ID such as driving license, passport or utility bills. The ID card would mean just carrying one form of ID.

How wonderful of her that she is thinking of us and making sure we are not walking around under the weight of too much paperwork.

Anyone who thinks this is being done for our benefit needs their head examining. It is all about government control of the population.
How will the system cope with fully-veiled muslim women, seriously?
Lets hope the electors of Redditch have the good sense to take control of Ms Smith's life, and boot her out of Parliament at the next election.

Bring it on!
Typical, our members of Westminster have to make a name for themselves, no matter how stupid, just as long as they are in the news. Idiots. Or is she hoping we will forget her ability to rob us of our salaries by claiming so much on expenses.
ID cards indeed...

You lot are obviously cynical criminals with something to hide. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Now, where's my shopping list? Let's see now....

Bread
Milk
Cat Food
Washing-up Liquid
Give My Biometric Data to some spotty Herbert behind the counter........

* With attention to the bit that says; "Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said [shops] could play an important role in the success of the ID scheme, allowing people to give their fingerprints and a face scan while "out doing the shopping". "
Terribly sorry (ish) to butt in but anyway.....

Yooooooo Hooooo Brachi! Always a delight to see your pixels! Hope you and the mini 'pods continue to thrive. xx
One of the problems with this government (and the country as a whole) is that we are too naive.

Our thinking is from the 1950s when most people were honest and could be trusted.

This country is now FULL of people (both home grown and imported) who are totally DISHONEST and will do anything for a quick buck.

We have professional criminals who can, and do, forge passports, driving licenses and other important documents.

I can guarentee that in the next few weeks some newspaper or TV news channel will be able to buy a fake ID card, then the whole thing will be discreditied.

We already have a passport to "prove" who we are, and a driving license to "prove" who we are, why add yet ANOTHER scheme to "prove" who we are.

Surely it makes more sense to convert the existing passport or driving license into an ID card, rather than come up with yet ANOTHER scheme open to abuse.

Do you need an ID card to apply for the National ID card at Boots etc? As you say it seems the weak link in the chain.
These ID cards... are they for everyone??? Is this compulsary???
Id cards cheap you only need 1 finger print normally right index finger.
should be used as id for cashing cheques using credit/debit cards withdrawing money from banks etc.
id for renting property or buying property or vehicles .

Thats how it works in tenerife and spain and as far as im aware theres no problem with the veil as far as im aware.
I cannot believe that our govt could organise a ****-up in a brewery after the fiasco they made of the CSA, so introducing ID cards is only going to be another one of their utter failures. How could they EVER get it sorted out? And why on earth should we want one of these things to add to all our other cards? Apparently we are going to have to pay for the privilege of this pointless endeavour, and so many people feel sp strongly against it that I can't see it being a workable thing. Or are we all just going to bow down and let it happen in our usual apathetic way?
My card cost 6 euros plus cost of photos.

Dont saudi women have their photos on id cards?

If the id card becomes law then they should be mad eto have one.
if theyre imprisoned i assume their mugshots are taken without a veil ?

otherwise it could be anyone in jail .

i sometimes think theres a lot of nonsense spoken about id cards.
make it law and if they dont want one then either offer deportment to a muslim country or a second chance to get the photo taken.

im pretty surre theyll go for the photo.
Hello, I think that you want to get more info about it. Go to http://asdurben.blogspot.com/?q=Identity%20Car ds
>VHG , what do you mean by ' naive ' ?

A French loanword indicating having or showing a lack of experience, understanding or sophistication. It can also be spelled naive.

As I said, we are too trusting.

Generally I think many British are honest and truthful (many that are not but still lots that are).

But some other countries have a history of corruption and stealing anything that is not nailed down (my brother went treking in India a few years ago and said you had to keep hold of your rucksack at all times or it would be gone like a shot).

I believe that many many people who come here:

a) Lie to get in (some bogus reason for claiming asylum)

b) get involved in criminal activities when they are here

But we are far too trusting and allow all sorts of people to stay here who basically should not be allowed in.

Just go into Google and search for "asylum seeker jailed" if you want to see what I mean.

These people will get invloved with fake ID scams at the drop of a hat, in the same way many of these credit card scams are run by immigrant gangs.
Don't open Kakduka's link, it is advertising, and has been reported. This link is all over the site today.

Hi, really bad news. But I do not care too mich. For such kind of gamblers I have my fake ID card https://idgod.to/states/florida-fake-id/. All their frauds will not work with me. And people be careful with your passport scans. Some fast credit companies can give credits to gamblers on your name.
