..... in a General Election? Unlikely I know, but if no-one - including the candidates - voted, what would happen?

Not sure.
If there is an equality of the number of votes then the winner is decided by drawing lots.

So maybe all the candidates would draw lots to decide the winner?
Nothing would happen as the situation would never arise. Why do you keep asking this?

squarebear - I posted the question on 2 separate sites ( in the space of 2 minutes ) in the hope of reaching as many people as possible as it is likely that one site would not be visited as often as the other. Isn't that what this forum is for? It isn't as if this question has been posed several other times and, however unlikely as it is to occur it is possible, and I was merely wondering what would be the legal and constitutional outcome if it were to happen.
