Self-closing doors in private dwellings, Edinburgh
Can anyone help please - I live in a block of 8 flats, built 10 years ago. All the flats have self-closers on every door - even the cupboard! Late evening and early hours of the morning we are constantly jolted awake by people entering their flat, letting the flat door bang shut, then apparently going in and out of every room, letting the doors bang behind them. I'm sure I read/or was told, about 5 years ago that the Building Regs had changed regarding self-closers within flats and that they were no longer required. Can anyone confirm this? Apart from the noise they generate, when I first moved here, my poor dog was nearly decapitated twice! I think they're dangerous. Any help would be most appreciated.

Your property must have very poor sound insulation for a relatively new building.
Properly set up door closers do not bang doors shut anyway.

This is what I keep saying, get the flaming things adjusted, but having only 22 owner/occupiers and 33 absentee landlords, what chance have I got! They've built some c**p in the docks, the tenements might have been slums, but they were better built!
Thanks for that though, I'll give them a ring in the morning.
