Resignation Query.
I handed in my 4 weeks notice, and my employer wants to waive my notice period. Am I still entitled to payment for the notice period? Don't want to seem greedy but new job doesn't start immediately. Seems unfair as I'm willing to work the notice.

I am fairly sure they should pay you for your notice period. Many companies ask resigning employees to leave right away, especially if the employee is joining a competitor of if they can cause damage to company if he worked the 4 weeks notice period. For example, if I were to resign, I would be asked to leave right away as I could sabotage our computer system (not something I would do though).
