Selling houses.
I signed the contract for the sale of my house on July 1st at the estate agents. Surely I need to sign other stuff before completion. Anyone know?

The contract is the thing that actually "sells" the house, the TR1 is the thing that actually allows the new owner to register it with the Land Registry.

I don't think I signed anything like that. I signed one form that (slap me) I only skimmed. As far as I was aware, and what the estate agent told me a contract agreeing to the sale of the house and agreeing to the price.
I haven't signed anything else. I haven't even seen a solicitor. Although I do have an appointment next week.
The estate agent told me lies today....he said that if I didn't get my stuff out today then it would legally belong to the knew owner. I Spoke to ex's solicitor who told me that wasn't true.
He also said that it would cost me 20k if we didn't complete.....not sure about that???

Ask the agent for a copy of what you signed. The contract should AND TR1 should have been witnessed.
It could cost you if you don't complete - if that was the contract (and depending on its terms) you are technically in breach if you fail to complete. The purchasers can claim damages off you - for example, for hotel bills if they have to move to a hotel until you complete or wasted costs incurred.
Can you not get an emergency appointment sooner? The longer you have to wait, the more potential damages you will end up paying. Have you managed to organise getting your stuff out?

We've completed. I went mad about the fact that he didn't give me enough time so he moved the stuff and put it into storage. I booked the storage in my name.
The only person who watched me sign anything was the estate agent on his own.
