Is there a limit to the number of days a year that I can stay with my son at his home in Spain,? I will keep my home in the UK ,paying the council tax /bills etc. as usual and my income tax on my pension will continue to be paid to HMRC I have heard the figure 183, and wonder is this in any one go or in total per annum. The web-sites on this are not very clear on this

If you are paying your UK taxes then there is no limit from the UK point of view.

The Spanish authorities may start regarding you as resident though which could have taxation consequences at that end.
Insurance companies usually ask when you take out insurance if the premises will be unoccupied for more than 60 days (I think its 60 days). Worth checking in case anything happens and then find out that you are not covered.

Thanks for the reminder, flyingpig, my insurers limit is 30 days , but I have arrangements to cover that (number 2 son stays over once a month, and a neighbour calls in daily to check post etc.) I have been told that you can get extended cover and am trying to find the details through my ins, agent.
