grounds of capabilty
1 Answers
i work in warehouse for a major retail company and they are trying to squeeze more work/ performance
out of the workforce, by increasing the targets and anyone who doesnt achieve these targets they are going to go down the road of eventually dismissing due to grounds of capabilty.
i am in this group the target is 22 pallets an hour i am just short say 21.09 or 20.8 over a week say 20 pallets or so . if this continued would this be enough to warrant a sacking after the probationary period etc. ?
also the contract of employment i am a warehose team member and it only mentions performance in it
on the 13 week trail period . i have been there 3 1/2 years . these targets are not in the contract.
i am not in any union before anyone asks.
so is this a thing that they could do with such small margins between hitting the targets and not ,
if it every went to a tribunial ? thx in advance

I'm sure a major retail company will have procedures for capability- they should issue warnings, explore ways to help you improve performance, and give you chances to improve over a reasonable period.
I guess they will focus first on those people who are achieving maybe only 15 per hour rather than on those who are borderline.
If you have a disability that could affect things.
