My husbands ex-wife is married to a man who is being charged with common assualt on me.

He came to our home uninvited. We had not seen him for three years as we had lived elsewhere.

He knocked at the door and when I asked who it was he told me he was someone else. As I could not see I opened the door a tiny bit. He had his hood up and as I opened the door he forced his way into my home. He shoved me back into my kitchen and shut the door behind him. I screamed and was frightened. He turned and removed his hood. That was when he pulled back his hood and shouted that he wanted to speak to my husband. I asked him to leave. He ran upstairs and I said I would call the police. He said he wanted to talk to my husband about some obscene letters that he hd been sent. I told him to leave and that we knew nothing about them. He pushed me out of the way and went looking for my husband who called the police from the bathroom. he kicked and beat at the bathroom door and I begged him to leave. he snatched my phone out of my hand and threw it on the ground. I was extremely scared that he would hurt me or my husband. After twenty minuted he ran off and the poilice arrived. They arrested him and charged him with common assault. He pleaded not guilty and there will be a trial.

The incident terrified me. I find it hard to sleep and feel jumpy if I am in the house on my own.

I don\'t think he has a criminal record He is a well spoke educated man of fifty. What is the likely outcome?

my ex was charged with common assault on myself twice, first time he got community service and probation. Second time he broke his bail conditions before the court case. So was jailed for 3 weeks. Judge took that into account, he was made to do a domestic violence course, 24 month period were he cant step a foot wrong, compensation of £100.

Common assault doesnt usually go that far in punishment.
