I have recently bought a new car and parked it on my driveway but my neigbour has complained to me about this because they have to walk partly on a small strip of grass by the driveway. There is still plenty of room for people to walk around my car. I just want to know if its perfectly legal where its parked as its not blocking them from getting to their house, they dont have a garage and there is plenty of room infront of my car for them to park?
Who owns the driveway on which it is parked?
Is it one of these driveways that acts as a common access to two (or more) properties? If it is, you will almost certainly find that there is a restriction in your land Title Register from anyone parking on it.
If solely you own it, answer as per Tamborine.
Well then we obviously can't help you answer whether you can park there or not. Ownership of land goes a long way to establishing what one can do on that land. Look at your land title record - the one the solicitor gave you when you bought the place.
You can download your deeds and your neighbours from LR for a small fee. This should tell you if it is your driveway with a PROW. If it is then you may not be able to block it with your car. It may even state that you cannot park there!
You may need to get your neighbours deeds as well as sometimes it is on one set but not the other so unless you check both you may still be in the wrong for parking there!!!!
