Facebook account email address change

I set up a facebook account using my email address. My other half used it mainly so I changed the email on it to his email address.
However now I want to set up my own facebook account but it says that my email address is already used. I suspect that this is because his account is still based on my email address?

How can I change it so that I can set up my own account but he doesn't loose his? (He has his own email address that he could use to continue his facebook account).

if you sign up to msn or yahoo or other such websites, you can create your own email account

Can I not use my current email account? I don't fancy having to use 2 different ones.

Just thinking about this again and I suppose I could create a new free email account, use it to register with facebook and then change the contact email address from the new one to my old one?
Would that work?
Or would it still not allow me to use my original email address?
