My sons`s wife walked out and left him with three children for another WOMAN two months ago, and would like to know hao long before he can take divorce proceedings against her for desertion.

Desertion for at least 2 years;
Adultery (if she admits it);
Unreasonable behaviour;
Two years separation if both consent;
Five years separation without consent.

Your son does not need to wait to years. Unreasonable behaviour and/or adultery is quicker.
