My bike (which i got knocked off on 3rd december) has been out of use since then. ive had a call today from the insurance company saying i can either take £500 and they write the bike off and keep it OR I keep the bike and they give me £400, i payed £450 for the bike in september and it has never let me down. To make it roadworthy again it will cost me about £100, which option do i go for, baring in mind i am currently fixing up my car for august when i can learn to drive so any money which i dont use will be put towards that modifications to the car etc...(I'm not a chav by the way!) I use the bike to get to college and work but i cant make up my mind, if i go for the 1st option and keep the bike, once i have made it roadworthy, i will be left with £300 which i admit is a nice amount to have at my age. but then if i take the £500 and they keep my bike i will have even more money to spend on driving lessons and fixing my car etc... i cant make up my mind, what are your thoughts? :-)

yeh, i see your point, thanks for pointing that out to me. :-)
If you have the bike repaired, as you say, you will be left with £.300. and a bike,
when you want to spend on your car you will still have £300. and a bike that must be worth something to some one.
As Logic points out, you will have £300 and a bike which you can sell, but you will also have saved money on public transport which can also be added to your cash pile

£100 difference is nothing, you are lucky they even offered that on a right of situation. If you have maintained the bike from scratch you will know exactly how much it is worth. If I was you I wouldn't sell it, I'd keep it. You paid £450 in september and the insurance company are offering £400, you're damn lucky; even after de-value you're still getting a good payout. The insurance, and tax is far cheaper for a motorcycle so I'd suggest you keep it and budget for driving lessons. Don't think about a car just yet - you need to get through your driving test first.
