I`ve been called up for Jury Service, is there anyway of getting out of it?

Did it about 8 years ago bez, the person in the dock had lots of friends and family in court continuously eyeballing us throughout the trial which was..let`s say...uncomfortable

I know that some people think of jury service as a great thrill/honour/right/duty etc etc but I'm with you Elvis. I absolutely DREAD being called to do it.
