Broken glass on pavement...

Hello there...

After bit of legal advixe please.

There has been some broken glass on the pavement just up the road from my house for a while now. Walk past it with dog every day, last straw was when he cut his paw on it yesterday.

It isn't just in one place, it is if someone (maybe householder adjacent) has put it there deliberately, it's scattered about 2m along the length of their wall which is next to the pavement. As if it's been done to stop maybe a dog 'pee-ing' up their wall?

Contacted the council by phone and explained situation, they said they would send someone to clear it up that day.

Went tonight and still there... sure if it was a child that had fallen and cut themself it would be cleared up staright away!

Not normally one to moan, but it needs to be sorted.

Any advice on what I could do next to get council to hurry up ? Maybe an email threating a legal pursuit, or I am just being over the top?

well you can email and threaten - it may help. I personally would just go sweep it up to prevent others hurting themselves, I know its not your place but sometimes nothing will be done unless you do it. =(

I have come across similar near my house, I cleared it up myself because I was worried that someone would get hurt. If you are that worried why dont you clear it up?

I was going to suggest clearing it yourself too and not walking your dogs anywhere near where it might be put back.

You can always take pictures if you think it is being done deliberately.

Perhaps the people in the adjacent house deliberately scattered broken glass so you might not walk your dog close to their property. Maybe your dog is leaving his / her 'business' without you noticing.

sorry but i have very little simpathy, cuz i´m not a dog lover, and if i found one too many mutts peeing up my wall, id have to do something drastic, obviously the glass hasn´t worked, or you would´ve chosen an alternative route

Would have it was a few managable bits and pieces, no problem with that...but this is hundreds of tiny pieces scattered along the length of someones front wall! And don't carry a dust pan and brush every where I go.

Looks like the best option/opinion would be to do it myself then, just dont see why I should apart from the obvious.
