Your children are on a protection plan and one of the criterior appears to be the CRB checks and since he already has had one done for his cab then he should be able to produce a copy of this. I have my own copy of my CRB at home, you could check if that would be appropriate.
Child Protection Plans are not given out willy nilly and so no, I would be inclined to say Social Services are not overreacting and if you violate the Child Protection Plan I suspect there would be some quite serious consequences as you would be deemed as not co-operating with the plan which has been put in place to safeguard your children.

What you just said isn't relevant. The plan is in place, the restrictions have been set and you have to adhere to them. If this chap is keen to ensure your welfare then he will have no problem with this.
Basically, you can question it as much as you like and provide all the mitigating circumstances you want but the plan is in place, the CRB check is part of it and you've already had the answer from Social Services that you do have to do this. You might not like it but it is what it is I'm afraid.

Fair enough i understand wot you say and i have no intention of going against the plan at all because i know it was put there for a very good reason to protect them from my ex and i certainly wont put my children through anymore heartache than they have already gone through thanx for advice much apreciated xx
