Never happened in my day, what a racket, just an excuse for the competitive mums to outdo each other again by buying better gifts for teacher

My sons teacher will get fcuk all from me, teachers get handsomely paid and have an excessive amount of holidaysanyway so they ain't that badly off

Kinda agree yeah, they are, as you said, .paid handsomely for their job. However I've caved and bought a small box of chocs and a card for Mini Boo's teacher. Only because Mini Boo adores her and is pretty upset to be moving to another class in the new term!
What!! How does that llok buying a teacher alcohol!

A ridiculous unnecessary idea.
My teacher always got me a present.

And I don't tip the binmen at Xmas, though Mrs McM gives the postman one.
I never actually was in her class. I used to always go and help her tidy the classroom at breaktimes and she used to buy me a lovely gift at the end of term time.

That was going back 25 years ago now. Last Christmas she bought me a watch, bracelet, bottle of wine and put £40 in my Christmas card.

My headmaster at primary school was 'seeing to' my mother. I think a present was out of the question, all things considered.
