Purchase of Freehold - flats
I own one of a block of 4 ex-local authority maisonnettes. Two of the other flats are owned by the same people, who are keen for us to purchase the freehold from the council (I think the remaining flat is rented, and the owner is not interested).
I've avoided this for some time, as in my experience anything involving local authority leases can be a can of worms, but it's hard to argue that council maintenance charges are reasonable.
Should we have our own legal representation - or does one solicitor deal with all of it?

I can't remember the detail but it seemed pretty straightforward at the time, we had to describe who was responsible for the roof and drains so there was no argument, (top floor roof, ground floor drains), each maintained own external windows and doors. I would think that the council would use their own internal legal department so you'd need to appoint your own.
