On Thursday of this week I was approached as I sat in my car by a bailiff who informed me I have 3 outstanding parking tickets relating to my current vehicle and that I owed them £593.42. I was not in a position to pay so the bailiff filled out a Notice of Seizure and said I had to pay by Friday. I have been trying to secure funds to pay the debt but I am unable to do so and require advice on what my options are?
It is worth noting that the vehicle is subject to a log book loan and that the Notice of Seizure only specifies a blue Renault Megane and that they failed to register the vehicle reg no on the notice.
your options would appear to be
a) pay the fine
b) lose your car also
c)I have a nasty feeling that bailiffs can also seize other possessions to cover the amount outstanding so even hiding your car might not help if they have your address.
To answer your question Dave I did not receive any notification. I was in the process of moving flat and by the time I had informed the DVLA of my change of address all court proceding information had been sent to my old address. I had moved towards the end of Feb and did not inform the DVLA of a change of address until June.
You can apply to the court at Northampton and state that you never recived any of the paper work.
Explain the situation and get them to fax or e-mail all of the forms.
This should mean that the charges will all revert back to the original charge.
