Getting out of a gym contract

Due to money problems i need to finish my contract with fitness first which i have not used for over two years and originally only signed up for a 3 month contract what's my legal standing on this?

Your contract would have probably been for a minimal period of time, you have indicated it to be 3 months. Payments taken after this are on a month by month rolling contract. Unless you have signed another contract, you can probably cancel it effective immediately.

Write to your gym giving them notice (as a matter of courtesy).

Unfortunately, you have fallen foul of the system they use - take advantage of your good intentions, coulpled with the fact that you will probably get fed up and stop going and - hopefully for them - forget to cancel your contract which means they get two years' fees out of you for nothing!

Never mind, loads of people do it, and a formal letter of cancelation will end it for you - as advised.

Yeah its a shame andy as i have intended to go back that's why i left it open but just can't get the time.
