well basically this case is about a friend. She took out a loan on her car because she owed some money to people that you would not want to ever meet. Than she reported the log book stolen, and when DVLA sent her another book, she took out another loan and reported it stolen, and bascially DVLA suspected somthing was wrong and they have reported it to the poilce. She has to attend court this month and is worried about the outcome she has got some legal advice, which state that she might get 5 years!!!
How much was involved?
I know someone who was involved in what was called, bascially, fraud although it was given some long winded title. He was convicted of drefrauding his company of an 'estimated' £10,000 although he insists it was no where near even half of that. He was given 10 months at crown court.

MissZI, I don't deal with this type of fraud, but in my "other" fraud experience, I would say fraud relating to £1500.. would stay in magistrates, is very "lower end" for sentencing, could get a Conditional Discharge or lower end Community Punishment Order (community service), poss 100 hours ish. she may incur some charges, but they shouldn't fine her if it's just going to put her deeper in debt.
no guarantees though.. it's really not my kinda fraud!
