I have been separated from my wife for 10 years now, we have not lived together in any capacity since then. Until now we have had a good friendship, she has been dating ever since and never seen the fact we are married as a problem. I am however ready to move on and the marriage does hinder me somewhat. We have a no children of concernable age (they are adopted by me and over 30)

My question is: according to UK/English law how easy is it for me to divorce and what rights does my ex have to my home and other assets? I have wanted to do this for a little while now but I am concerned it will cost me a lot of money and assets i have worked very hard for since we parted.

All help/advice would be very gratefully recieved, but please be as truthful/honest as you can because i really do not want too many nasty surprises :o)

see a solicitor....but if you are on good terms try to agree the terms between yourselves first so all the leagal eagles need to do is produce the documents to formalise it...If you were to agree to cover the costs can't see your ex being too difficult
There shouldn't be any problems especially after you have been separated for 10 years but, did your wife make any contributions to the payments on the house and assets?

Jessie, thanks for the links
Sleepless,

I didn't mean since you have been separated, I meant when you were married, like the payments and deposit for the house.
