VW Fox Spare Parts

I have been waiting for a front bumper for my 3 year old fox for 3 months now( Insurance job). I have approached my VW dealer who said they are having problems with the bumper supplier. I have written to VW UK asking about the availability of parts in general (not mentioning the bumper) and was informed 98.2% of all spare parts issued are on time.
My question is are spare parts hard to buy if I need any more "bits" in the future. Does anyone know how I can gee up the delivery of my long awaited bumper?

Did you know that the Fox is made in Brazil?

That might help to explain the slow delivery of spares.

A Main VW dealer cannot just start slinging any old aftermarket bits on a body repair, however many Euro have or whatever price they are.
You can only lobby VW UK to prioritise your order. Basically .. creating some 'stink' is going to help, as they will spend a bit of time and liaison to get rid of you.

Thank you - I had no idea Fox was made in Brazil - not sure I would have purchased the car had I known; certainly would not buy another because of this.

Loads of specialists on the internet that find sh parts from a nationwide load of breakers. Enterr details and you will get a call fom those that can supply. Why buy new if a sh part is not damaged!

One reason is it may be the only way a bodyshop can satisfy an insurance company's requirements.
It can get very messy in court if someone fits second-hand or aftermarket in replacement to old and there is an 'issue'.

Getting to a point I don't care how its repaired would be just nice to have a decent car. I always said being 3rd party was best and I now think had I been 3rd party I could have got a used one and there would probably be very little difference.

Im also waiting for a bumper too!! Have you manged to get hold of one? aparently there is a waiting list up to 12 months and i will no be able to get a bumper until the middle of next year!!

Last week following loads of "pester power" VW had a temporary bumper fitted for me (wrong colour) - but looks better than the old one that was taped on.
I have had a phone call from VW to say they hope my bumper will be in in about a month - I will keep you posted.
