my daughter signed the finance papers for her boyfriend who cant get credit and he put the car in his name.
The car has been paid by her with money he gave her but they have split up so who legally owns the car ? thanks
The person who paid for it.
Question Author
so my daughter who pays it is the legal owner then ?
Although she might have physically made the payment it sounds as if he actually provided the funds.

What was the agreement between them when the car was purchased?
If he gave her the money then he's paid for it. So he owns it....

Well the finance company do until it is paid off.
Question Author
she pays for it through her bank account so if she stops paying will they go after the name in the log book or the name on the finance aggrement ?
Finance agreement. She signed a contract.
Question Author
thanks for your answers we will see how it goes
agree Even if the b/f gave your daughter the money to make the payments previously, if she stops payment the finance company will go after her as it is she that mage the agreement with them.
Agreed. This is not a question about car ownership but about who is responsible for a credit agreement. In this case its your daughter. The car is irrelevant.
