Hi all, had a shunt 2 weeks ago now, of which not my fault as I was stationary, guy ran into me, therefore he is liable, however my insurance keep saying they are unable to get any response from him via letter or telephone call, I have all his details and he has not reported the incident to his insurers either....what can I do...I feel my insurance company are not doing much to move things along as I am eager to get my car repaired....

There were no witnesses because the only witness was the other guy in the army truck and he didn`t count. The insurance company didn`t make me wait to get the car repaired. The plan was to repair it at my insurance company`s cost, then they would reclaim their costs from the army guy`s insurance. As I said, the guy didn`t bother and Direct Line put their solicitors onto him. I think it was quite a few months later before he buckled under the pressure (probably because he was driving an army vehicle and it could have impacted on his career) I would phone the claims people and tell them that you are paying for legal cover and they should stop procrastinating. Good luck
I have a good witness and everything....100% his fault....its only scrapes and scuffs on my vehicle but its unsightly and i want it repaired asap, my insurers said I would have to have it repaired by making a claim, but as its a non-fault accident I would have to wait for liability....I dont want this to affect my NCD....
If the other guy hasn't reported it to his insurance company then your insurers should be taking action against him personally. Did he not give you insurance details when you exchanged information? Your claim is, in the first instance, against your own policy, and then your insurance company claim off the other guy to recoup their losses. There should be no shilly-shallying.
