Just got our first tenancy renewal agreement through to sign. The covering letter asks for £52 quid for 'administration costs'. Could someone explain how much admin is involved in printing out 6 pieces of paper? Perhaps it's gold lined paper.
My daughter rents a private rental through an estate aent and has changed her agreement a couple of times and is never charged extra, alll admin is factored into the rent
Hi Milly143,
I;ve just received a renewal for my tenancy and the agent was £100 for so called admin costs. I refuse to pay such silly fees for them to print out a new tenancy agreement.
£100!! That's ridiculous. Have you told them you won't pay it?
The thing is the ll has been really good to us and the house is lovely so I don't want to start causing him any grief or worry. I'm worried if I tell the agent I am arguing the fee they will tell him and he's a really nice guy. I don't want him to think badly of me.
It's normal practice for letting agencies to charge an admin fee on renewal of a tenancy, I've just had the renewal offer for mine through and they want £75 to renew it for 6 months (which seeing as a for sale sign was attached to the front of my place last weekend without telling me I'm not going to be renewing mine)
It doesn't seem fair, but you won't talk them out of it and I bet if you check your tenancy it will say about the charge for renewing.
Before I signed at the start of my tenancy I asked them to take this part of the tenancy out. My tenancy does not say that I will be charged any renewals. I've told them this but they still want to charge,
