We're in that little pocket of days between Christmas and New Year's Eve which feels like an almost endless Sunday afternoon. The buzz of Christmas behind us and the looming spectre of the New Year ahead.

Is it too early to ask if you'll be making resolutions?

Is it also too early to start totting up the damage done to waist-lines over the past few weeks?

Probably! But there are other questions! Have you chucked out the family yet? (Or have you made a daring escape)? And is there anyone worrying their hangover might still be hanging around on New Year's eve?

Hope you're having a good time!

Spare.

I've been at work the last two days spare. Now I am off for 3 days and working Friday and Saturday, and as I was unwell for most of last week i am going to enjoy some rest time now without really needing it!
I'm hiding behind locked doors...........and it snowed again today :-(

Sounds good Dot, always good to indulge at these times!

This thread is sticky for 12 hours so feel free to use it as a general chat space.

Have a good'un!
lol what if something really fab gets posted spare?
Like a week of Sundays. Ice making the footpaths slippery as... well, Ice. Cabin fever setting in. Sigh.
I had a really nice, peaceful christmas and a lovely birthday and am looking forward to spending new year with friends. And I've been spoilt present wise (although admittedly am now convinced I smell given the amount of lotions and potions I have :c)
I posted a happy birthday on yoru facebook CD but not been back to see if you bothered to thank me, I didn't expect you to but one never knows lol : )
Lol! If it's the China Doll FB account then I'm on that even less than my actual one! But thank you for the sentiment :c)
my chief concern is my rubbish collection, we had no pick up last week and have been promised a 'limited' collection tomorrow, all down to industrial action. I am guessing the limited collection will be for main roads and businesses :(

recycling collection is on hiatus until the 10th jan, Im already up to my eyeballs in paper and plastic :(
I will be glad to see the end of this year-it has been a *** one for me. Came home on Christmas eve to a flooded downstairs.....the combination of a tap that will drip all of a sudden during cold weather, and a cleaning cloth left in the sink= disaster.
Stayed with friends and was well fed-good...but it smells like a musty cellar here-V bad.
So comfort eating will continue for a bit longer.....as will drinking ;-))
Hey Ed, don't forget those of us who have birthdays in the No-Man's-Land period - you have at least four of us on AB - we're still excited!
When's your birthday boxy?
I think my waistline has decreased Spare Ed, I think I'm the only person I know who tends to lose weight at Christmas thanks to the mum diet haha! My jeans were all loose earlier!

Not thought about resolutions yet! No family to chuck out as I went to my parents this year, lovely time though had an 8 hour odd journey back home yesterday which would only have taken 2 if the trains were running.

I'm planning on making the most of the office being shut for a whole week :D
I am sure my waistline has increased I just cannot stop eating!!!!

Finished my dinner earlier, already had 2 sausage rolls, handful of nuts, a couple of choccies from the selection box and am now eyeing up a mince pie!!! Help!
I won't specify but you can make me 5 with the birthdays boxy - I just feel guilty that people are going to have to get me something straight after Xmas.
I feel so much better now that it is over. I love January onwards when the nights get lighter and the aconites and snowdrops start to peep through. Roll of Spring. I hate December. Christmas was OK. I started enjoying it about two days before!! Not my favourite time of year though.

I must admit I would like to go back to the time when Christmas was just a couple of days holiday. To me it's a total waste of time having long holidays in the middle of winter. The country grinds to a halt and it all feels so gloomy.

Happy Birthday to our no-man-land five!

I am glad there are some people who, unlike myself and Sandy, are having fun rather than going slightly mad...

Sounds awful Pasta! Hope you've not got exposed floorboards, they're a bugger if they warp.

Jenna, Mum diet? Or is it a secret?

Spare
chrimbo limbo, as we call it in our house
I personally like this time between Christmas and New Year, lots of Sundays!....really enjoy it, I don't go to the Sales, I just spend the time with my family, it's great!......and then in January, the nights start to draw out, Spring's still a way away, but we're getting there quietly!...............
