What's best to use as mouse bait ?

Getting xmas lights out of the garage we discovered a mouse had made a nest in the boxes. He ran out but has since crept back in. I found out today he has made another nest under the bonnet of my car using the fire proofing as nesting material so Mickey has to go. We have built a humane trap as I want to catch him and release him away from the house but I have heard mice do not like cheese. Can anyone offer any advice as to what we should use.

Yes, chocolate- not too much or he won't fit inside the trap!

have discovered that rats luvvvv raw potatoes.....my mother has an issue with them so come Tuesday am will call the Council before they axe that service..........

If the chocolate doesn't work, then try cooked bacon, they are partial to that too!..............

and make sure you take Mickey quite a long way away from house when you realise him. I had a mouse in my flat once, 2nd floor flat, caught it and put it in garden across the road, couple of weeks later Mr Jingles was back, so we caught him again, blindfolded him and drove him out to the back of McDonalds. :)

We bought two 'snap' traps and a humane trap. The latter has never yielded any success whatsoever. The other two have caught several mice between them in the past few months.

We've found the the most effective bait to have been seeds and nuts of the type you get in those nut mixes from health food shops.

It's strange they don't go for cheese in spite of the many cartoons which say they do, isn't it?

They DO go for cheese, it's just not their favourite.

I made some 'rat cake' - crushed weetabix, honey and peanut butter, mixed and pressed into a block - the rats love it.

Actually, is is quite nice, like those 'health' bars you can buy
