manslaughter charge
If a 19 year old male was charged with manslaughter how long a sentance do you think he would get?
His friend was being attacked he picked up a fire extinguisher to hit the guy attacking his mate, fractured his skull and the guy died 3 days later in hospital
Just need an idea as he is being sentanced next week

Manslaughter is Manslaughter...........however, the sentencing Judge will be privvy to details of the circumstances of the offence which will help him determine whether the bloke being sentence receives the lower limit, upper limit..............or anywhere in-between.

The prosecution will have gone for the murder conviction but with the alternative for the jury to convict on manslaughter if they felt they couldn't convict on murder.
He has been found guilty of manslaughter but quite what the judge will decide to take into account when sentencing is entirely up to him.
You'll only know when the judge hands the sentence down, I'm afraid.
