After speaking to a friend, four of us checked the above dates on each of our Driving Licences. My husband's is valid for 8 years, one friend's is valid for 3 years and both my other friend and myself have only 2 years on ours. Why is this, I am absolutely at a loss as to why there should be such a variation. I would have expected everyone to have the same lengths of time between the 'Valid From' and the 'Valid To' dates. Many thanks in advance as I'm not sure how to post a Thankyou.

Your photograph has to updated every ten years.

The 'Valid to' date is the date that your photo expires, and you will be sent a form to renew it a couple of months before that.
The photograph needs to be renewed every 10 years. All driving licences need to be renewed at the age of 70, and every 3 years thereafter.

You'd be 68 and your husband 62?
I think all driving licences are valid till 70 then we have to renew them.
The expiry date (70th birthday for most vehicles) will appear on the back of the card, for each vehicle type.
