I agree with Big Ted, "recreational drugs" can have a terrible effect for years after. I lived on a naval base in America in the 70s where acid and maui wowie were all the rage. Out of thehe few people I still keep in contact with the chap on acid still gets terrible flash backs and needs weed to lift him out of the depression. Vicious circle!!
there is always someone worse off than yourself - so by your logic, no-one is allowed to be miserable, angry, depressed etc, ever again, because someone else has had a worse time...?
one of the worst things about depression is that sometimes there appears to be no outward reason - no bereavements, divorces, job losses, no money worries etc etc and you feel that you really have nothing to be down about - and everybody else thinks the same thing - so added to the misery is the guilt and confusion of why you are so down, and the fact that there is nothing you can work on.
no denying those two other things you mentioned are terrible and deserve all our sympathies - but that doesn't mean that someone who is suffereing in a lesser way doesn't deserve a second thought!!
(i personally don't give a toss about RB, but depression is a debilitating problem and he needs help)
