Heath Ledger's little girl

I have just read on teletext that Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp are taking over the last part of Heath Leger's last film "The Imaginarium of Dr Partessom" (or something like that) which will be released next year.

They are all donating their fees for the film to Heath's daughter, as he died without providing for her.

I thought that was really nice of them all, as they didn't have to do it and it shows how much they liked and respected him.

Pity for a fatherless child does not necessarily equate to respect for the father. Agree that it is very nice of them to donate the fees, just feel that the reasons are not necessarily as you interpret them

yes they are doing it because his last will didnt include his daughter

Yes I know his will didn't include his daughter, that's what I said in my comment. I wouldn't donate fees if I didn't like the person, however we all interpret things in different ways.

It is nice of them, I agree, however, I am assuming that Heath's wealth would then have been left to either his family/ parents or his ex-wife / girlfriend Michelle Williams, neither, I would think, are likely to see Mathilda go without.

I'm sure a kinder gesture would have been to leave the fees to a charity of Heath's choice if they didn't want them particularly.

Although it is very kind and decent of them, it does seem an odd kind of gesture; there are millions of fatherless children in the world who would probably need the money far greater than Marthilda, just off the top of my head I am thinking of AIDS orphans, children whose parents have been killed in wars, both military and innocents, 9/11 victims......

I think it was a really nice gesture, and shows they did like heath, otherwise they would have given it to a charity, or even kept it.

Bear in mind that Heath was just becoming a well known actor, but now he is more famous than he ever will be, and his daughter will always be known as "Heaths Daughter" and never be able to escape it. This money will help her get security she may be able to live her life in private as she so wishes.

Also she is only young and this money wont be worth as much when she is 18 with inflation.

I think she deserves all the money she can to live her life to the full, to live with this curse and the fact she will never see her dad again, only see the papers that wrote about him, or the films where he wasn't playing himself.

And yes there probably are more people deserving out there, but aren't there always-if I give money to a blind man, then the deaf and blind man would deserve it more, but you can't live like that.

I totally, totally agree jenniprice. Heath's big mistake was not making a new will, but then he was so young and none of us know when we're going to go and at the age he was, you think of death as a long time in the future.

At least Jude, Colin and Johnny have now enabled her to, as you say, live her own life in her own way and not have to rely on anyone else for handouts. She has lost her dad and no money in the world can ever replace him.
