Boy's Home remake?????????
I asked this question a couple of years ago, but am having another go.
I saw a film years ago (it may have been a loose remake of Boy's Town). It was about a family in the 1900's or perhaps before, the mother dies, the father steals a loaf of bread to feed his two sons and gets sent to prison. The older boy tries to cope and look after his younger brother, but eventually the little boy gets adopted into a wealthy family, but his brother tells him that he'll come back for him one day
Over the months, the older boy learns that there is a boy's home across country that they could go to and be together. He goes to see his brother and the little boy says that he wants to go with him, so they make the trip. They have many adventures along the way and the police end up looking for them. A radio DJ hears of their plight and sends them messages to keep going and generally encouraging them. The priest who runs the home listens to the radio and also realises that America is behind these two boys. Towards the end of the journey, the older boy carries his brother because he just can't walk any more and they eventually reach the home.
I'm not sure, but the theme tune to the film may have been "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother". Any help would be great.
