I've seen this mentioned a few times on here but I don't know what it is. What is it and what is it about?
It was a very good short series with unanswered questions.

Is Frank the son of Grace and Walter? or is his father Sid, (Ciarán McMenamin).

Did Violet go to America? or maybe Frank was Violet's child.

We need to know. A second series is essential.
Oh I hate these that you don't know what if and where or did he..I have recorded the whole series but not watched it yet as it was on in the afternoons
I imagine it was left pretty open ended to allow for another series if this one got the viewing figures. I can't say I was very engaged with the present day lot, they were just an annoyance to me and I could'nt wait to get back to the 30's
We had a series a few weeks ago like that going from the past to the present can't remember the name of it off hand about a little girl .Bet I remember when I click the button to reply to this .
It was Marchlands.

Never even thought of Frank being Violet's child!!! Sounds likely...... anyone know if another series is planned?

Tiggerblue: It's still on iplayer, would recommend seeing it - really good, should have been on in the evening to pull in the figures though - best thing have seen onTV in ages.
I watched the whole series yesterday on catch-up and it was brilliant. I've read that it was only shown to coincide with the census so I doubt hey will make anymore. Shame really.
Ooops! Didn't see your reply Echo as I started typing then had to go and do something and come back :o)
But Frank was named Frank after Francis (which was sid's real name) I am sure Grace was his mother.

Great series. Better than Marchlands.

But how did it end?
I think Grace was Franks mum and Sid/Francis his dad. Back to modern day the family were going to renovate the attic and found the skeleton and that was the end. It left us dangling I wish they would do a follow on series.

Would like to see another series too but not sure how they would make it work flashing from one decide to the other .... which was the key theme - but would be good to know what happened to them all in the 1930s .... did Violet go to New York? Did Walter crack up after murdering Billy Lamb?

Also ............. did anyone notice in the first episode that when Ella went to work (a Nursery I think) the sign outside said "Billy Lamb Centre" ............ was this just a tentative link or is there a deeper connection do you think? Why would it be names after him if he disappeared in 1931 (murdered as we know!!!)

Curious!!!
Billy Lamb was a rich gangster so he maybe sponsored or paid for the nursery!
Question Author
That's true Netibiza, but he was murdered in 1931 - so why would the Centre still bear his name in 2011? It's unlikely the nursery existed in his lifetime don't you think?
I noticed Frank said (when looking at his old pics) that his sister Nora died, and then she had that accident and I thought she would die but didn't, so I wonder how she died.
Also he didn't know who Violet was in the pic so presume she definately went to America. Sid (Francis) has defo got to be Franks dad.
I agree we need more of this drama to tie up lose ends.
