My family is spread out accross the country and it gives me a chance to see pictures of my newphews and nieces growing up. I've kept in touch with people from my past who might have otherwise stayed in my past. There have been those people who I didn't want to get in touch with again but it's easy enough to ignore requests and messages if you aren't interested.

I'm fussy about who I befriend or not and if I don't know them then I refuse them. The exceptions are people I've 'known' and got on with for a long time in other forums, and one or two of my son's friends.
I have cousins all over the world and although I'm not terribly close to some of them it's nice to be in touch and know how they're doing.
Facebook has also brought me back in close touch with the girl who was my very best friend at school. We're back together as though the last 35 years never happened.

Also there are the FB attention seekers who write one line such as
'Well! What a trurn up for the book'
or something enigmatic like 'What goes around, comes around' just to get others to say What's up? or Are you OK honey?
It really is quite nauseating. The poster rarely responds, just likes to be a drama queen, yes it's nearly always female!
