Computer animation Software

Can anyone tell me what the best animation software? I know there is so many animation software these days but what do the expert used, i watch a programm the other day how they thought pyramids were built and they had some very cool animation going on.

The professional stuff isn't cheap!

EIAS (which was used for 'Prates of the Carbbean' and 'Lost') will set you back $895:

ToonBoom Animate Pro ($1195) is popular with professional cartoon makers :

Maya ($3495) has been used to create special effects for films such as 'Shrek':

LightWave ($895) was used for '24':

But if you want to try something which is of a high professional standard (but totally FREE!), then you should take a look at Blender:

Hi Chris.....I can be taken to task for digressing on this thread because I am unable to answer the OP and am now seeking information concerning yourself....and acknowledge that my enquiry could be deemed as 'out of order'.

However, whilst always appreciating the responses which you give to myself and all folk within AB, I have noticed that you often refer to prices in dollars.

I am therefor being bold and asking...." Do you live in the States or the UK.

Software purchases are frequently downloads from US sites, where (unsurprisingly) the prices are in dollars, so I quote them as they appear on the relevant websites.

As t'other Ron states, I'm in Suffolk, just up the road from Chuck (who's over the border, in Essex).
