book- lord of the flies

has anyone read lord of the flies? i have a few pages missing so can anyone tell me what the beast is and what happened to the boy with the birthmark on his cheek?

Not sure about the boy with the birthmark, but the beast turned out to be the decomposing body of the aeroplane pilot whose parachute got snagged on the rock face and made his head 'bob' in the wind.

i dont know how to break this to you but boy with the birth mark is never seen again so i assume he died. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

The original film is brilliant, see it if you can get it on DVD, not the American remake. There's also a great doco where the original kids are taken back to to the island with the director and they discuss the experience.
