IN the movie Taxi Driver, why doesn't Travis end up in jail for murdering all the people at the end. I know they were bad people and deserved it but doesn't that kind of go against the law.

If memory servies, and it's years since I saw the film, I think Travis does get wounded in the general mayhem, which would give a self-defence plea plenty of weight. Jodie Foster's character would doubtless speak up for him as a witness - have another look, I'm sure I'm right.
