A big grower for me. Saw it the first time and was confused to say the least but have seen it several times since and now love it. I also read the book which at least explains a little more who Shigur is working for.
The ending is odd but watch it again and it does start to make sense.
One of the other things the film got criticised for was the lack of a soundtrack but I honestly think it is better for not having one. The scene when Shigur is coming for Llewellyn at the hotel is electrifying and the silence is deafening!
I really enjoyed this film... Not a big fan of modern art though and only know enough about wine to know which ones I like and which I don't. Don't quite know how modern art and wine links to a film.
I really liked it, don't like wine, but I like films that some people call poncey or pretentious.
That said, I thought The King's Speech was crap, not a scratch on The Black Swan!
No Country for Old men - excellent film.....have it on DVD watch it quite often.
Fargo - similarly, an excellent film.......haven't watched it for a while.
The King's Speech - on my 'To buy' list.......haven't seen it yet.
The Black Swan - watched it last night.....was surprised at the amount of blood!!
I'm with you kinell.............. I have no idea what the point of it was and have probably definitely missed something! In fact, I probably did fall asleep watching it!
I have recorded it to watch later, it got such good ratings write ups and oscars, do love the Coen Bros movies, Fargo was great but now I am not sure about spending time watching this one after the mixed reviews, but I do enjoy wine.
kinell perhaps you'd be more comfortable if you winched that massive chip off your shoulder? Defensive or what. You didn't like or understand the ending, so pre-empt being called "uncultured" and link it with poncey wine, modern art and Oscars. Someone needs to "have a word" with you matey!
