Was his sentence too severe?

One of this idiot's Facebook messages read:
“Kill one black youth, we kill a million Fedz [police], riot til we own cities”.
This 18 year old Cuban was given a two-and-a-half year sentence to a young offenders’ institution.
Asked on television, his mother said his sentence was too long, I wonder what sentence he would have received in Cuba?

Looks like the modus operandi is for the Government to look tough with silly sentences quietly reduced on appeal
I don't see what relevance Cuba's system is unless you are suggesting that the UK should adopt a repressive dictatorial regieme.

“Kill one black youth, we kill a million Fedz. What an idiot, 99% of the rioting/looting had absolutely nothing to do with the guy that was shot. In cuba for inciting a riot I'm not entirely sure on the cuban law/criminal sentencing structure but they don't give you mickey mouse sentences in south america so I'd guess between 5-20 years

If he is actually Cuban wouldn't it have more sense to re-patriate him there as he obviously doesn't have any regard for Britain and British laws?
However i haven't read the article so would be careful as to whether that sentence was purely for that FB post. Today there was a headline saying "jailed for single lick of looted icecream". The guy in question did in fact receive the sentence because he was also fencing stolen goods during the riots and had already appeared in court that day for possessing an offensive weapon and drug related charges committed during the riots.
But is it unfair of me to now be getting fed up to the teeth with non-nationals complaining about our justice system when they usually hale from places with a lot worse. Its not perfect but a dam sight better than others. Maybe I'm just getting world weary with it all.

Just shows you what it is like in Cuba - do we really have a million in the police force here - if so, no wonder they should be cut in numbers. Cameron and Clegg are right then.........
It means then on a proportional basis, Cuba has a police force of around 1/4 million - and I guess that is about the truth?
