WHY??????

The man is supposed to be a "gangland boss". A ruthless, cold-blooded murderer, dealing in lukewarm hard cash as befits the very heartland of London's East End.

Why on earth is he poncing about with some blank personality like "Tina", and trying to subltely become part of the nice, cosy Albert Square?

Why....???

I think in their earlier 'gangland phase' EE writers thought it was cool to fill the soap with thugs and low lifes. Then there was all this sacking and the thinking changed. Thugs were no longer cool. But you are saddled with these actors who have contracts to see out. So these thugs become loveable rogues with a story to their lives. having said that almost all EE thugs have had a softer side (The Mitchells, Den, Dennis, Andy, Dan etc and now Johnny). I think the trick is to shock you with their violence, get you interested and then to make their characters real and likelike.

talking of Tina, her character is developing and i am beginning to warm to her storyline and the situation she finds herself in. The future with her and ruby promises to be worthwhile. Her relationship with Johnny does not have the puke factor that is associated with the Alfie-lil Mo or Ian Beale-Jane relationships. It seems more real.

It's probably his hormones - whoever you are you can't help your feelings - I think he is an excellent mobster boss - very like the ones in the real East End in the '60's and don't ask me how I know - Roman Road rules!!!

netibiza do you get EE in spain the same episodes as we do or after a few weeks after being shown here??. Just wondered

Dom Tuk On the mainland I don't think there's much problem - but here in Ibiza you need a 1.8metre dish to receive it - I only have a 1metre dish therefore some kind person records it for me.  This is the same BBC as you receive it and at the same time - there is another system called BBC Prime which shows BBC  and their Eastenders is 2 days behind but there's is legal - the one we get isn't - with the 1.8metre dish they all get BBc and ITV - I have Sky so cannot get them with my small dish.  A 1.8m dish costs about 1,500 so am still waiting.
