Hi there, i have a nine banded armadillo which i've had as a pet for several years called ralph so am pretty much clued up armadillowise.

I was out earlier and had notice3d that ralph was excessively scratch himself aginst the garden post which is not unusual but was noted i then went out for a couple of hours and when i came back found ralph had completly moulted his armoured case, ive never heard of this happening and am a little shocked.

He looks extremely pink and the poor mite is shivering in the corner looking at me with as i type this.

Is this normal or should i call the vet?

This is not normal. Weird animal posts usually appear on Fridays. Call the vet.
Neither, knit him a jumper.
Why do people insist on coming onto Answerbank with such obviously stupid (and made up) questions.?!?

Are you sure that it's an armadillo and not an armoured magic wand?

Bloody censorship!

That should have read "armoured d-i-l-d-o"
;-)
LMAO !!!! Chris, haha!
I've had a strange problem with my pet today too!

When I went out for a couple of hours my cat was looking quite happy but when I got back a couple of hours later only his grin was left. Where am I supposed to stick the thermometer in order to take his temperature?
Chris really!! before the watershed too Mwahahaha!
I'd look in a tree avanalarf

Using AB to ask people where you should stick things is simply asking for trouble!

Boxtops yes ive never heard of an armadillo moulting either as i've already said but my one has copmpletely detatched himself from his shell which is on the otherside of the room whilst ralph is now under a blanket in front of the log fire.
You must have an emergency vet who you can phone with your dilemma - this ain't natural. You'll never get it stuck back on if you don't do something quickly.

Really boxtops? What could've caused this?
