Considering the rise and rise of Gino d'Acampo in recent years, it's incredible to think he once served two years in jail for burgling pop star Paul Young's house: http://www.dailymail....aul-Youngs-house.html This isn't mentioned in Gino's Wikipedia entry or in interviews with him. Do you think that, because he served his time, he should be allowed to move on, or do you think the public should always be made aware of his criminal past?

I already knew about this, though can't remember how I know, so it's obviously not that much of a secret.

In answer to your question, yes, he should be allowed to move on. Isn't anyone allowed to move on once they've served their purpose? Or do you only think that rich, successful, famous people shouldn't be allowed to?

And lastly....he's so damn cute!
There is a thing called the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act- which means that it's already recognised that past criminal covictions should be laid to rest and not factor in your current life.
I'm an 'ex offender' and if I had had my 'crimes' splurged all over the place then I'd never have been able to move on, leave it all behind me and achieve what I have- so leave it alone, he went to jail, he paid the price.
2 years seems a fairly stiff sentence. He was arrested when police matched DNA on a cigarette butt found at the scene of the crime.
Wonder what other crime they were investigating when they took a sample of his DNA?
I don't think people should rake it up.
NoM, should we let sleeping dogs lie for all criminals? Could Garry Glitter make a comeback?
Gary Glitter poses an ongoing threat to young children.

Gino D'acampo is a successful tv personality and family man.
Served their purpose??? I did of course mean served their sentence!

SandyRoe makes a good point though - there are other famous offenders who don't pose a risk yet we are constantly reminded by the media of their pasts
Gino says "stop raking up the pasta........"
chirpychirpy. Gino has always been open about his misdemeanour and it is mentioned in Gino's Wikipedia entry under the heading 'Early Life'.

Indeed he has moved on.
Who ??
It is his "past" and he should be allowed to move on, the same as anyone else. This was all raked up when he was on I'm A Celebrity so I think most people know about it now anyway.

He has mentioned it in interviews. After he left the jungle I watched in interview where he talked about it. You can't expect him to have to drag it up every time he talks though.

Im my opinion he did the crime, he served the punishment and he went on to make something better for himself.
im not surprised............... ( his eyes are very close set ) :)
I agree with most people on here, he's done the time so let it rest. He made a mistake, served his sentence and has made a go of his life - good luck to him!

This is a different case to people like Gary Glitter, who are a constant danger to children.
I cannot believe you even brought this up here!
Burglary ... 11 years ago!
So what .. There are a LOT more things to worry about .. don't you realise.
Fancy that, Crime can obviously pay!
Gino nicked Paul Young's guitar, so Paul Young got his own back.....while Gino was in the jungle, Paul went round to Gino's house and nicked his cooker. Allegedly.

Seriously though, it must be quite weird to know who burgled you. Perhaps they have even met up in celebrity circles. If they have, I wonder how the conversation went.....any suggestions?
How long as D'Campo been in UK? When he first featured on TV his English was very bad, so I presumed he's just arrived from Italy. Does anyone know where Paul Young was living when Gino struck?
