I think he is just a bit fed up with the monotony of it all and hysteria from some of the females...also hungry and he can do better to get the grub in..don't think he is bad..exasperated and tired wants a bit of fun and interaction..think most of them have lost their sense of humour over the tedward thing....

there's another point though if all the contestants we like pat sharpe the programme would not have quite as many viewers, its all the hysterical women and camp men that fascinate people,
pat would go through all the trials without being phased, non of the animals will hurt anyone ,maybe a little nip if caught of guard but nothing else .i think we all know by now the rats are tame ones (a different species from the wild rat) and the snake which was found in camp was obviously put there for effect
the camp is more or less sealed and searched regularly for any thing that could KILL a contestant, the snake was a harmless python if it were left for anything to go into camp it could have easily been a deadly snake and that's not going to happen,.. a contestant killed on tv, i don't think so
but for all it's theatricals we enjoy the show
