what was that cartoon?

hello there i wonder if anyone can help me. maybe between the years 1989 and 1992 i remember watching a cartoon that now i can't remember the name of. i have a fade pic as to what would happen. i remember that a plant used to be put into a door of a tree (or maybe a clock) and the plant would grow quite fast, then the plant would be taken out. i am not to sure but i think a worm was involed somewhere to. if anyone could help it would be brilliant.

It sounds like a programme called 'Greenfingers', I think  - but it wasn't a cartoon. There was a big green creature (obviously a person dressed up) and he lived with, or had a friend who was this lady with a bob haircut who wore really mad clothes. They used to put a plant into a door in a tree trunk and the plant would grow magnificently and they'd tell a story. think there was also a bird in it, an owl perhaps.

Also there was an owl that used to go "Twooooo twit twooooo" when the plant was ready.
