I've just treated myself to a box set of all seasons of 24. Quite a bargain actually cos it was about £30 odd from Amazon, and I'm sure I paid that for just season 1 back in the day.

Anyway, I had to stop watching when Sky bought the show, so I have only ever seen days 1 & 2 when shown on BBC3 (or whatever it was called then), the plan being to watch at least I season over a couple of days every week.

Just finished day 1 again and just wondering if my mind is playing tricks cos I was fairly certain that when shown on TV originally, the ending was that Jack finds his wife alive. OK, I know there were two endings anyway, but as said, I thought they used the happy ending originally on TV, yet on the DVD the default ending is her being dead.

Can anyone who saw when it was originally shown confirm or deny how that ended?

I have only watched "day 1" once and that was the first time it was shown on Sunday nights on BBC2 and she definately died. I remember the feeling of shock at the ending.
as captain kirk says, big shock ending.its one of the reasons i loved the show, they weren't afraid to kill off big characters from the beginning and so the suspence was so much better.
in the original and on the series 1 dvd terry bauer died.best series ever.
