TV voting shows
18 Answers
Why do we never hear how many votes each person gets in these shows, like X Factor and the rest?
The company must know how many votes each got so why do they not tell us ? Gives support to the idea that it is a fix !
Or is it that they do not want us to realise how much money they make out of all those votes at £1 a time ?
Even the BBC shows are 15p plus call costs, must be a nice little supplement to the licence fee !
Over a whole series there must be 100,000s of votes millions even at £1 a time !

I suspect that if the actual figures were revealed there would be an outcry about how much cash is being made.
Still do not see how it can be shown to be 'above board' unless the actual number of votes is published, you could not hold a political election like that , and these shows are a form of 'election' .

Mattk, That is some thing eles I was thinking, a non democratic flawed process. How do we know that even with the current system there are not multi votes from one person. It would not be hard to organise an auto dialler to keep on voting for 1 person. I still think the TV companies are terrified of people thinking too much about this and know there wil be a huge row if it comes out. How do we know the TV shows are not adding a few thousand votes onto the one they want to win, with the current system there is no way to know.
There may be some people who ring lots of times to vote but I'm not sure it makes much difference. If there are 5 million calls and the split is 55% to 45% that'a winning margin of 500,000 votes, so a few friends and families making multiple calls won't make much difference.
The results can be distorted though by Facebook/website/twitter campaihns for certain candidates.
But does it really matter who wins?
X factor losers such as JLS have done pretty well

its usually third party who manages the phone vote operation (in the case of scd its done by bt) so financial figures and confidentiality clauses will no doubt ensure that only percentages are published.
unless you were a statitician i don't think knowing how many thousand voted for such and such in week 7 is going to enhance your living experience to any noticeable degree.

I don't believe the voting is corrupt. However, up until the final the judges decide from the final two who goes. Therefore they can control which singers stay in. If it was completely legit then the person with the least votes should leave each week. They also manipulate the publicity for the singers to make people like or dislike the singer.
The only thing we know about the singers is what X-Factor wants us to know.
